Overview

A practical, hands‑on programme delivered over three half‑day live online sessions, designed to help adult social care employers improve retention, reduce recruitment costs, and consistently attract people who are the right fit for both the role and the organisation.

Programme structure

  • Session one – Defining lived values: Understand how behaviour and culture influence recruitment outcomes. Identify real, observable values and translate them into clear, practical statements that guide expectations.
  • Session two – Applying values to recruitment: Turn values into structured interview questions with clear indicators. Strengthen assessment, decision-making, and attraction, including job adverts.
  • Session three – Conducting values-based interviews: Build confidence in running effective interviews using evidence-based questioning and the EARL model, with practice, feedback, and refinement.

How it’s delivered

  • three half day live online sessions
  • highly interactive and skills-focused
  • minimal theory, with an emphasis on real‑world application
  • group discussion, breakout activities, observation and practice
  • delivered by experienced facilitators with sector expertise.

Learning outcomes

Participants will gain the skills, tools, and confidence to:

  • recruit people who share your values, helping reduce early turnover and rehiring costs.
  • clearly define and communicate your lived values, rather than aspirational ones
  • use structured, values-based interview questions that support fair and consistent decision-making
  • apply a robust assessment approach using aligned and non-aligned indicators and the record, review, rate model
  • recognise and reduce bias in recruitment, supporting safer and more inclusive hiring
  • improve attraction by ensuring job adverts reflect your values and culture
  • conduct professional, evidence-based interviews using effective questioning and probing
  • embed values-based recruitment into everyday practice, not just recruitment events.

Participants will also receive a workbook and practical resources to support immediate application in their organisation.
